We all feel reassured when we hear that NOAA National Marine Fisheries Service is doing comprehensive testing on the seafood that is being sold from the open waters in the Gulf of Mexico. We trust NOAA to place our health first, right? Sadly, like so many things in the wake of this oil spill, we’re learning that you have to look closely at what is NOT being said, when our governmental agencies give us their reassuring reports.

CNN’s Sanjay Gupta takes us inside the agency that tests our seafood and gives it the stamp of approval, where he finds something shocking. In spite of the fact that USCG and EPA approved nearly 2 million gallons of the neurotoxin Corexit so far, which has been dumped into the Gulf of Mexico, no one is actually testing our seafood for the presence of these deadly chemicals.

You heard me correctly – no test EXISTS.  They are only testing the seafood for oil compounds. And while they are developing a test for the Corexit chemicals, seafood is getting the NOAA stamp of approval and being sold to you in the market.

Giving us new reasons every day to mistrust our “representative government” our hats are off to NOAA, today’s ball-dropper of the day.
