I actually called, talked to a man named Phil who answers the phone. His attempt at putting me in touch with the right people of course lead to an answering service that no doubt has a record of my call.

I think its time to stockpile. Two months out since the last comment and all I am reading and seeing is terrible things happening to people and the weather.

I believe we need a new form of government, this one has failed not only us but the world. I think Beau Kitselman hit the nail on the head in hellostupid which can be read at hellostupid.org

How about a home water test kit? Do water filters filter out the poisons from Corexit and the other dispersants? It would seem critical that every individual aquire one of these home test kits, if they exist.

The article says that with a major hurricane the oil and dispersants could be lifted up to 500 miles inland. I was wondering how the number of miles was reached? I live in northern NJ and on Sept. 30, 2010 we had the tail end of a hurricane-high force winds and sheets of rain. I smelled oil in the air in a residential area that doesn't have factories. I never smelled oily air like that before there. My daughter had breathing problems and I had a cough for days. The distance from NJ to the Gulf is over 1,000 miles; is there any way this could be oil from the Gulf that was lifted into the air?

Corexit is simply keeping the oil beneath the surface of the ocean. There are more effective alternatives to this toxic chemical. Why isnt BP using them? One of the board members of Nalco (the company that makes Corexit) is Rodney F. Chase, who is a former BP board member. BP and Nalco are obviously trying to make a big business out of this environmental tragedy, rather than making any kind of morally sound effort to repair the damage that BP has caused.

There needs to be a Federal level effort to demand that BP use a safer method to clean the Gulf. One of the cleanest and most effective alternatives is the use of microbes in bioremediation.

Back in 1989 there was a major demonstration done in Texas (both in the lab and in the field) using microbes to clean up a very large oil spill within 6 weeks without interfering with any ecological processes.
